Indistinguishable from real wood
Most people love the design of real wood floors. They create a warm ambience and suit almost any interior style. On the other hand, real wood floors are expensive and require a bit more maintenance. When considering the price difference, laminate floors are a great second option. It has become increasingly difficult to distinguish between a high quality laminate floor and a real wooden floor. Here are some of the benefits of parquet floors:
Laminate floors are made up of several layers of compressed fiberboard. On top, a photo print is pressed with a clear protective top layer. The photo print is usually copied from real wood floors, so the initial look is very similar. The only thing that reveals that it is in fact a laminate floor is that these prints show some repetition. This is more difficult to detect with tranquil settings. Besides the impression, there are three different structures that can make the floor even more comparable to real wood:
- Structure : Structured laminate floors have a tangible surface structure. This gives the floor a wood-like structure, but a full wood design will not be recognizable. Another advantage of this structure is that the floors are less slippery.
- Embossed: Embossed laminate floors have a tangible wooden structure. Note that this does not follow the wood grain of the print, so they overlap. However, you can only see it properly when looking at the ground in raking light.
- Recorded in relief: Laminate floors that most closely resemble wooden floors are usually embossed. This means that the tactile relief closely follows the wood grain of the print, so that even in grazing light the floor is almost indistinguishable from a wooden floor.
Another advantage of laminate floors is that they remain unalterable, while real wood can sometimes discolour under the effect of UV rays.
Easy maintenance
A laminate floor, unlike a real wooden floor, requires little maintenance. This requires regular vacuuming and mopping, but it's enough to keep the floor in good condition. In addition, the floor absorbs little dust, which makes it suitable for people with dust allergies. Use a laminate cleaner when cleaning the floor, as most all-purpose cleaners tend to leave streaks on the floor.
Laminate is generally resistant to wear and scratches, this is due to the solid top layer. Therefore, it is more resistant to dogs, cats, children and even high heels, In the event of an accident or spill: always be sure to clean up immediately, especially when dealing with liquids. Moisture can enter the core layer through the seams, causing the floor to swell. Water resistant laminate floors are also widely available. Please note that these are only truly water resistant if the backing is also made of water resistant HDF.
Laminate flooring is less expensive than traditional wood flooring or LVT, but it does not lack in looks, ease of use and quality. There are great choices of laminate flooring in all price ranges. Laminate floors are sold in a wide assortment of wood, stone and tile style decors, all available in a variety of colors, thicknesses and plank styles. This means that there is a laminate floor for every interior and every individual can choose a floor that fits well into their home.
